Internacional Chamber Music Festival
Stellenbosch - Vila Nova de Famalicão

9, 10 - 11 May 2008
Casa das Artes (Vila Nova de Famalicão)

To promote and pro-actively develop a deep love of classical music, especially the genre of chamber music with its unique blend of artistry, musicianship and leadership and inter-personal skills, as well as to grow young music talent to full potential are the goals of International Chamber Music Festival, which, for the first time, had left Stellenbosch, in South Africa, to Vila Nova de Famalicão (Portugal). It is the first step towards the creation of a musical network with other countries.
The artistic direction of the festival is led by Luis Magalhães, a Portuguese pianist internationally known who lives in South Africa, and the excellence of the international roster of musicians, the best for this genre, guarantees a huge interest among music students and public in general.
During the three days of the festival (9-11 May), there will be chamber music concerts every evening featuring the artists of the Festival, solo or chamber music orchestra. In the morning, afternoon and evening, other activities will take place, such as educational sessions (workshops and master classes), mini-conferences and informal musical talks with musicians, students and music lovers.
Stellenbosch-Famalicão International Chamber Music Festival will certainly be part of all international logbooks of classical music.
