GINASIANO DANCE SCHOOL

Ginasiano Dance School exists since 1987. It´s a private institution with public utility status, situated in Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal.

Dance and Movement are the school’s most important activities. Rigorous technical and artistic education, enveloping of the community in which it is integrated, consolidated and constant international opening through partnerships with foreign dance schools are some of the principals of Ginasiano.

Students, teachers (its own and some national and foreign guests), city halls, cultural institutions and the Education Office – that officially recognizes Ginasiano’s lectures – constitute a strong network which allows Ginasiano to impose itself as an educational and cultural centre in the North of Portugal and abroad.

Artistic education can only exist within a school that includes, in itself, a cultural and artistic Project. So:

• Ginasiano has a structure to create and set up a school-show as well as an artistic and professional one.
• It serves the local community, by developing different activities to different publics, with physical, technical, cultural and artistic components.
• It has celebrated national and international cooperation protocols and formal and informal partnerships with Educational and Cultural institutions, City Halls and the Education Office. Ginasiano also promotes artistic interaction with national and international institutuions. The goal is to attract young and children to artistic education.

Ginasiano has a board of permanent teachers, which is sometimes complemented by national and foreign guest teachers.

Ginasiano is now situated in the historic center of Vila Nova de Gaia, next to the river, in the 19th century convent Corpus Christi.
