He won a Gulbenkian scholarship until 2002 and he is actually a lecturer in piano at the Department of Music, Stellenbosch University (South Africa), where he lives. Winner of Maria Campina Competition in 1992, he is considered one of the best performers of Russian music.

Cena Quintet is a project created in 2004, with a repertoire based on bossa nova and choro. Musicians Joaquim Carvalho, António Meireles, João Santos, Tilique Coelho and Ricardo Silveira play works signed by the most brilliant Brazilian composers.
